Greetings

It has been quite a long since i last blogged, however m back now and will try to provide my regular update to you all friends and colleagues.

Currently, Fiji weather is getting unprecedentedly cool with temperature dropping to 20 degrees and further prediction of going down to 10 - 13 degrees in few weeks. Is it Climate change issue or normal weather cycle?

Pacific Island countries are going through some major changes and Fiji is no exception. A lot more focus is placed on Primary Industry than before - way to go!

Potato farming together with rice farming is being revived to cut down on imports. Fiji sugar which was largest foreign earner behind tourism is being recovering slowly and future looks bright.

Recently i have been involved with the Project Management Unit on National Adaptation on Sugar Strategy to get the one of the 4 sugar producing area that is Labasa cane producing farms Fair trade certified.

Pre-audit has been completed in early July by auditor from Germany - FLO Cert. This is looking very promising.

I will keep you all posted on this in following weeks.

Best Regards
Vinesh Prasad
